Purpose of Consultancy - Members Survey 

The Alliance seeks a Consultant to conduct a members survey across the breadth and depth of the Alliance. The survey aims to gain further insights into the Alliance's wide and diverse membership as we seek to grow to even greater heights in 2022. The survey seeks to inform the plans of the Alliance for the rest of 2022 going into Q1 of 2023 with the aim of strengthening and growing the Alliance and our impact.  

Scope of the assignment:  The primary purpose of the members’ survey will be to inform the strategic thinking about the campaigning plans and the growth of the Alliance. The survey will need to be designed, carried out, analysed and completed by the end of March.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the members’ survey and interview questions in collaboration with the Mobilisation Manager and Global Convenor
  • Develop marketing and promotional plan with key Alliance staff members to ensure the survey reaches its target number of participants within the timeframe
  • Conduct key informant interviews with a specific number of survey participants to be determined in consultation with Mobilisation Manager and Global Convenor.
  • Carry out analysis using survey data
  • Design and prepare reports in various formats which compile the findings from the members' survey and informant interviews
  • Manage other consultants working on translations as needed and graphic design in a timely manner
  • Keep a record of all documentation, including interviews and survey results. 

Deliverables: A report with information on findings of the members' survey 

Person Specification

Interested candidates should have at least the following:

  • The ability and skills to design, conduct, analyse survey results and present these in a usable format for internal audiences in Fight Inequality Alliance. 
  • Experience in conducting qualitative interviews
  • Experience in working with social movements - preference to be given to those with Fight Inequality Alliance experience. Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds across race, class, genders, religions, geographies, sexual identities, 
  • An MA in social sciences or relevant qualification/ experience 
  • Excellent command of English and Spanish (verbal and written)
  • Experience in conducting qualitative research, ideally in a social movement or social justice setting 

Reporting mechanism: The Research Consultant will report directly to the Mobilisation Manager. 

Location: Actual work shall be done remotely, however, the Consultant is required to attend all scheduled meetings and events related to the scope of work, as necessary
