We stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela, in one voice, to demand respect for self-determination and peace. On January 3, the power of the 1% was once again on full display with the US military intervention in Venezuela. This event is a consequence of the profound imbalance of power and voice, characteristic of a global system designed to perpetuate the inequalities and other forms of violence intrinsic to capitalism.

The current colonial system, founded on invasion and genocide, continues to place all forms of life at the service of the interests of the dominant powers. The invasion of Venezuela is yet another confirmation of the impunity of the imperialist global regimes and interests operating in the region and gives free rein to extractivism, economic debt, and militarization in Abya Yala (Latin America and the Caribbean).

  1. We demand absolute respect for the self-determination of the peoples of Abya Yala.
  2. We denounce military violence disguised as “national security” and false democracy.
  3. We condemn the interference of the United States in the democratic processes of our region.
  4. We stand in solidarity with the struggles of the peoples, particularly in Venezuela, to establish an autonomous government that upholds the interests and principles of the 99%.
  5. We mobilize in response to the reset of the Monroe Doctrine, which perceives us as a sacrifice zone for maintaining US hegemony.
  6. We call for continued organization in protest and resistance for a new economy based on care, the commons, and dignity.
