Reacting as the World Economic Forum opens in Davos and Oxfam releases latest report on inequality, Jenny Ricks, Global Convenor, Fight Inequality Alliance said:

"Davos meets today to 'rebuild trust' as Oxfam's latest report shows us we are still on a crash course for a world run by a few men at the expense of so many. The call to tax the rich, not the poor is the cry they do not want to hear on the Swiss mountaintops.

"While the canapes and champagne on the mountaintop will do nothing to change this picture, people are organising in the streets across the world this week. They will be charting a path to an economy which puts people and planet ahead of greed and profit. This is the answer to the dangerous times we are in. Trust can't be rebuilt by those who broke it in the first place. People will rebuild the trust we need in our world with their solutions."

The Fight Inequality Alliance “Better Than Davos” Peoples’ Assemblies will take place across the world on Thursday 18 January. Follow the conversation online using the hashtag #BetterThanDavos and #FightInequality.
