Reporting to: Regional Coordinator FIA and Zimbabwe´s National Council

About the role:

A member of the National Secretariat Team that contributes to FIA’s overall organisation performance and collectively delivers the national elements of the 10-year roadmap and global strategy and promotion of organisational culture and values. As the National Coordinator in Zimbabwe, you will lead the national organising work for the Fight Inequality Alliance at national level - including coordinating annual and monthly mobilisations and organising other key events, producing campaign materials, and organising the gatherings and training of the alliance. You will lead fundraising efforts, build the membership, public profile, connections and credibility of the alliance with civil society in the country and beyond. You serve as a key representative and planner for the national alliance where required. Lead with drive and inspiration and with humility and collaboration. The role will also have weekly check-ins with the Regional Coordinator. It will lead the organising efforts at national level in a range of ways as we grow our impact further over the coming years, as well as connecting to the wider alliance across the world.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Leading implementation of visionary, strategic leadership and governance model at national level,
  2. Carries out planning, operational and MEAL activities aimed at strengthening at national level.
  3. Building, servicing and is accountable to the National Steering Council.
  4. Convenes and strengthens the Fight Inequality Alliance in the country, growing its membership, and enabling, catalysing and guiding effective high-quality coalition and national work.
  5. Coordinating the process of defining and implementing the strategy of the national alliance (including organizing, campaigns, communications, movement building)
  6. Building the profile, connections and credibility of the national alliance.
  7. Mobilising alliances and resources for the operation of the national secretariat.
  8. Developing plans, budgets and reports for the national alliance.
  9. Manages all funds and reporting to funders, plus managing the fiscal sponsor relationship.

What we’re looking for:

  1. A minimum of 5 years working in organising and movement building from national to regional level.
  2. At least 3 years’ experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams in regions, preferably in an international or non-profit setting.
  3. Substantive multi-country experience of designing, leading and winning campaigns, working in alliance with social movements, NGOs and unions.
  4. Extensive experience in organising and movement building from national level to regional level.
  5. Grant making and management experience.
  6. Proven stakeholder engagement and partnership with government agencies, NGOs, civil society organisations, and community groups
  7. Proficiency in project management principles and practices is necessary for overseeing the implementation of regional and national initiatives within the alliance.
  8. Comfort and ease working in a fast-paced environment.

  7. Willingness to travel as required without creature comforts.
  8. Excellent verbal and communication skills
  9. Completely fluent and strong in English. Preferably also fluent in at least one other language.

  2. Dynamic and empowering leader able to exert influence and drive change with or without line management authority or hard power, and to lead in a way that builds others’ leadership.

  4. Strong organisation and time management skills.
  5. Effective fundraising skills, able to win resources for campaigning work and for mobilising and organising with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
  6. Excellent analytical skills underpinned by a good understanding of development issues and debates, international institutions and processes.

Knowledge

  1. Knowledge of regional dynamics, including geopolitical considerations, cultural nuances, and socio-economic factors that impact the alliance's work in different regions.
  2. Familiarity with relevant sectors. Understanding of sector-specific challenges, best practices, and opportunities for collaboration is essential.
  3. Understanding of the stakeholder landscape, including government agencies, NGOs, CSOs, social movements, community groups, donors, and partners.
